On Friday, 3/6, the Bixby Spartan track teams kicked off the start to a promising season ahead. Taking 2nd place overall in the meet, the Spartan girls showed up to compete. The 4x800 relay team consisting of seniors: Megan Moeller, Ashley Riggenbach, Alexis VonHagen and sophomore Cayden Dawson set the pace for the day when the pistol shot signaled our first race of the season. At times in 1st and at times in 3rd, all four girls ran their best and battled into a 2nd place win. Other placings to follow were: 2nd place in the 4x200 relay, a 1st and 2nd in the 100 and 300 hurdles by Kyndall Hicks, 4th in the 100m dash and later 2nd in the 200m dash by senior sprinter Sydney Roth (who smiled and sprinted into that spot just seconds before the end of the race), 2nd and 4th in the 800m, and 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place for the 1 mile race. Senior throwers Ashley Prince and Riley Allen took 1st and 3rd in Shot Put. Additionally, there were several other point-earning places and notable efforts by new and returning team members for the 2020 season. Overall, this promising start points to a great season ahead! If the girls won 2nd at the first meet, perhaps next week we will win 1st at our second meet. It's a great day to be on the girls' Spartan Track Team!
